Happy National Scrapbooking Day
{Weekend}
Today I’m sharing my monthly project for Lifestyle Crafts Studio
and also participating in the Lifestyle Studios Design Team Blog Hop.
At the end of this post is the list of blogs to hop to,
and where you can enter to win this tote
Today I am gonna show you how to use the letterpress and
make this cute little "today" card
Supplies Needed
I have these little foam stickers {you can purchase them here} lined up on the letterpress platform to hold my 3x4 plate. I actually have it set up so I can make 2 impressions at once. {but today just making one}
I placed my letterpress plate face down {upside down} on top of my paper to get it lined up.
Approximately where the plate should stick to the lid of the platform I have added a bit of adhesive for the plate to attach to.
I closed the lid and gave it a slight squeeze to get the plate to stick {during clean up just pull the plate of the lid and use some goo gone to clean up the adhesive.
After squeezing a pea sized amount of ink onto the ink base and getting the brayer evenly covered with ink, carefully roll the ink onto the plate. Making sure to cover the plate evenly, less is more here.
Its ok if you get a little ink onto the lid, just use a cleaning cloth to gently wipe it up. {be sure you get these little boo boo’s up or they will transfer to your paper}
And no need to hurry with this process the ink doesn’t dry all that fast. You have plenty of time to carefully apply the ink and clean up the excess
Close the lid and send it through the evolution
Viola. A cute little card!
Now for the fun part, you can create your own letterpress plate. Just like Studio Calico did here. Its pretty simple check out how to do that here
Can you see the impression in this photo? That’s what you are after. That’s what the letterpress is all about. So it’s important to use the right paper. I tried it with normal cardstock and you don’t get the same results. You get the image, but not the impression.
CLEAN UP:
So these wipes are the bomb! No lie! Seriously they wipe up the ink with no effort! I do suggest cleaning up ASAP. No you don’t need to hurry since the ink doesn’t dry that fast but also don’t wait a couple of weeks like I did and your ink permanently dries to your brayer and ink base {oops}
And now for the blog hop
Here is a list of the participating Design Team Members
