Hey There
Today I am gonna show you how to cut
your own Acetate Pieces.
Acetate pieces are all the rage right now. Here I cut the HELLO, YOURE PRETTY AMAMZING & TRAVEL Dies from Studio Calico CAMERA from Amy Tangerine, YES AND BUTTERFLY From Chic Tags, SMILE From Heidi Swapp & 3x4 OUR STORY From Freckled Fawn
Supplies Needed
Chipboard
Just place your die on the Genius Platform
Place a piece of Acetate on top of the die, then place a piece of Chipboard on top of the Acetate to act as a shim. Place your cutting mat on top to form a sandwich.
You may need to run the “sandwich” through a couple of times to make sure the die cuts the Acetate. You will hear a bunch of crackling. Trust me this is normal. Its almost music to my ears. Even though you heard all the crackling, be sure to run it through at least 2 times maybe even 3 or 4. {You can also create an impression into the Acetate if wanted. Just don’t use the shim and only run through the machine once}
Viola, you have a die cut piece of ACETATE. You ask “now what do I do with this?” Keep reading for ways to use it with Project life/Pocket Scrapping.
I recently created this little album for saving the little love notes I make for my boyfriend.
{He travels quite a bit & I love to slip love notes into his suitcase!}
Becky Higgins 6x8 Project Life Album from Michaels Craft Stores
One of the pages in the album.
PL Cards from Studio Calico Kits
Here is a page using the Acetate die cut.
I have it “floating” in a 3x4 pocket.
For this photo I placed a piece of paper behind the Acetate so you could see it better.
This was super fun, easy to cut and slip into an album. You could also use the Acetate on Traditional Scrapbooking pages. Just use a stapler to attach it if you are worried about adhesive showing through. I recently made a couple of Pocket Pages using Acetate pieces and I stapled them on top and inside the pockets. I’ll share those on another day!
