My new obsession is the heat transfer material from Silhouette America & Circuit. This is the easiest project ever, I swear! I literally made all these projects in less than 20 min {not all at the same time}. The longest part is setting up the design and the Silhouette Cameo cutting out the design. I have been asked several times for a tutorial, so today that’s what you get.
First decide what you want to make. I like to buy my pillowcases from Ikea. They cost around $4. Pillow Case, Pillow Filler. I bought the bag from Michaels, it cost about $7.
Find a design our quote you want to cut. The dude pillow is a design is from Ali Edwards. I choose only to cut out the dude. The pineapple is from The Cut Shoppe on Etsy. I created the Taco quote myself. I found the taco image on Pinterest and traced it with the silhouette program. {I think I can do that since the bag is for personal use, but don’t quote me on that}

I created my design in the Silhouette program. Be sure if your image has a “right” way, that you flip it! Which you can find under the “object” tab.

Here you can see that the image flipped horizontally.

{here I have started the "weeding" process}
I always cut my design with paper first to make sure the “negative” is what I want, and it also helps to see what you will be “weeding”.
When using the Silhouette, be sure to change the settings on the machine to “load media”. Load the heat transfer material glossy side down {this is a plastic film that acts as a cutting mat}
{be sure to follow manufactures instructions with different materials}.
Send the design to the Silhouette, adjust cut settings {don’t forget to change the blade too} and cut!

Once you have your image weeded, you will be able to see the design that you will be ironing.

The plastic film is a bit tacky and helps old the design in place.

Place your iron on top of the plastic film {no the iron wont melt it, crazy huh} but be sure to follow manufactures instructions!

I was using the Circuit brand material and the film is pretty thick. I have my iron on the hottest setting; I went over and over to make sure it adhered to the canvas.
Carefully pull the film up to make sure the material adhered to the canvas. {Mine didn’t completely adhere, so I went over it a few more times. I also went directly on top of the material}

And viola, you have a custom bag

Here is the process of the pineapple pillow

You can see I made the pineapple to be 16x9 inches, I set up the cutting mat to be 18X20 {the pillow case is 20x20} except I forgot to tell the program I wasn’t using a cutting mat, so what happened is the machine only cut in a 12x12 area {you can see the pineapple that isn’t highlighted, is the part that didn’t cut} This really sucked cause the gold material is not cheap!

You can see on the right hand side in the mat set up, you can choose the size mat, make sure to choose NO MAT!

Thanks so much for stopping by, what do you plan on making with the heat transfer material?
