At the beginning of summer We R asked if I could create and give a review of some product being featured on HSN for HSN’s 30th birthday. I was lucky enough to get to work with the mini piñata and mini ABC punchboard.
For my first project I made this super cute watermelon piñata. I really wanted to make something out of the ordinary, and something for summer. What better than a watermelon piñata
I took the round piñata shape and cut it in half. Using some of the packaging, I created the “top” of the half circle. If you plan on filling the piñata with goodies, now is the time before you secure the “top”
After everything dried I started adding the tissue paper fringe. I started with the darker green and then the lighter one to give the rind the varied look. I then worked with the red fringe. To give the watermelon the finishing touch I ruffled the fringe and cut out some black seeds.
How cute would it be if you varied the slices with pink “meat” too! You could also cut the circles into triangles for another classic look.
